Carbazole is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound and one of the most valuable components in coal tar. 90% of the carbazole in the world is obtained from coal tar. Carbazole can be used to produce dyes, pigments, photoconductors, photosensitive materials, special inks, etc. The pigments produced by carbazole are immortalized violet RL, which is widely used in automotive topcoatings and high temperature resistance. The colouring of plastics has the advantages of high temperature resistance and ultraviolet light resistance. The fastness indexes of sulfur-reducing blue RNX and Haichang blue produced with it are excellent, especially the fastness to chlorine bleaching. The blue varieties are carbazole IDM, carbazole LR, carbazole LB, carbazole L3B, and the black varieties are carbazole black D. It also produces carbazole dioxazine violet, a blue-purple pigment used in paint, printing ink, copy paper and so on. Carbazole is used to produce sulfur reduction blue RNX, direct sunproof blue FFRL, FFGL and so on. It can be used to make leather, N-vinyl carbazole plastics, pesticide insecticide tetranitrocarbazole, carbazole chloride, and ultraviolet sensitive photographic dry films.
