Lipstick/Lips: Provides structure to prevent the formula from becoming too soft or collapsing, while forming a lightweight protective film to reduce moisture loss from the lips.
Creams/Ointments: As an oil-phase thickener, it helps maintain stability after oil and water are emulsified, preventing the product from running too much when applied.
Hair wax/clay: Provides hold and a certain amount of shine; it is more flexible than pure wax and does not break easily when bent.
