Microcrystalline wax is a white, amorphous solid wax refined from petroleum residue oil. Its main components are C31–C70 branched-chain saturated hydrocarbons and a small amount of naphthenes. It features a high melting point, strong adhesion, excellent ductility, and low-temperature toughness. It is odorless and tasteless, insoluble in water and ethanol, but soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and chloroform.‌‌

‌Physical Form and Structure‌: A white or off-white waxy solid,‌ amorphous with fine crystalline features,‌ with a flexible texture that does not crack or break easily, and exhibits a luster when rubbed.

‌Thermal Properties‌: Wide melting point range (typically 60–90°C), good high-temperature stability, and low thermal expansion coefficient.

‌Mechanical Properties‌: High viscosity, strong ductility, and good elasticity; remains flexible at low temperatures and is not prone to cracking.
