Micronized waxes play a lubricating role in coatings, reducing the coefficient of friction of the coating, thus improving the abrasion and scratch resistance of the coating. For example, the addition of 1% wax micropowder reduces the dynamic coefficient of friction of the coating film from 0.35 to 0.25.
When the coating film is cooled, the wax particles precipitate from the coating liquid and migrate to the coating surface, producing a matting effect. In addition, wax micropowders with different particle sizes create different texturizing effects.
Micronized wax can enhance the wetting and dispersion of pigment agglomerates, so that the pigment coloring strength is increased. Generally adding 1%~3% of wax micronized powder can increase the pigment coloring strength by 10%~30%.
Micronized wax gives the coating film a pleasant texture, anti-adhesion and stain resistance. Wax particles on the surface of the coating can reduce the adhesion of stains or make stains easier to wipe off.
